he first open heart surgical operation in more than 30 years was performed in Jaffna last Sunday on a 16-year-old orphan girl from Trincomalee at the private Northern Central Hospital with the support of the Oxonian Heart Foundation (OHF), a multi-ethnic organisation registered in Sri Lanka and Britain and funded by private donations.
